Location : Salem, VA 24153 (Southwest Virginia healthcare jobs)

Facility : 500-bed hospital, Level II Trauma Center

Position Type : Locum Tenens Physician (Travel Contract)

Specialty : Cardiology with Urology focus

Start Date : October 1, 2025

End Date : December 24, 2025

Assignment Length : 12 weeks

Shifts : 24-hour hospital / ED shifts with call back (20-minute response time)

Shift Duration : 12 hours (any)

Estimated Weekly Pay : $5,780 - $6,850

Patient Volume : Average 28 patients / day

EMR Systems : eCW and Meditech

Physician Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of recent hospital-based experience in Cardiology or Urology

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology or Urology (Virginia physician jobs)

Active Virginia State Medical License

DEA and CSR certifications required

BCLS and PALS certifications

Ability to provide case logs (minimum 200 cases in the last 2 years)

Proficient in general urology cases, kidney stone management, and Da Vinci robotics

Key Responsibilities

Deliver 24-hour hospital and ED coverage for adult patients

Respond to call backs in person within 20 minutes

Manage a high volume of general urology cases, including kidney stones

Support the Level II trauma program and main transfer center for Southwest Virginia

Utilize EMR systems for accurate charting and documentation

Collaborate with multidisciplinary hospital staff in a fast-paced clinical environment

Maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and clinical excellence
