Location : Austin, TX

Pay Rate : $44 / hour

Schedule : Monday - Friday | 3 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM (2nd Shift)

Position Overview

The Surgical Technologist II is responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures while assisting physicians and supporting the circulating nurse (RN). This role requires strong technical knowledge, adherence to sterile technique, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room based on surgical procedures and patient needs, ensuring equipment and supplies are ready and appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs and ensure instruments, sutures, and materials are available in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Handle, label, and care for surgical specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Inspect, clean, and maintain instruments and equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
• Set up back tables, instruments, medications, and supplies according to case requirements.
• Ensure proper processing and handling of sterile and contaminated instruments.
• Participate in continuing education and in-service training to maintain and enhance technical competency.
• Support the circulating nurse and other surgical team members as needed to ensure safe and efficient procedures.
