Overview

Electrical R&D Engineer II – Hollister-Whitney

Location : Dallas, TX or Quincy, IL

Schedule : Full-time, Day Shift (8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM) – Onsite

About Us : Vantage Elevation, LLC is North America's leading independent manufacturer of elevator components and systems, comprising eight business units and over 900 staff across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. GAL Manufacturing is seeking an Electrical R&D Engineer to join our Product Development team. This role focuses on designing, sustaining, and improving cutting-edge elevator system technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout of high-speed, multi-layer circuit boards.
  • Lead the full design cycle : prototyping, validation, firmware development, and board tester design / build.
  • Sustain and update existing circuit boards to ensure manufacturability and compliance with evolving technologies.
  • Collaborate with PCB assembly manufacturers to optimize cost, manage component availability, and oversee cross-approvals.
  • Create technical documentation, validation reports, and certification packages.
  • Support field troubleshooting, product assessments, and cross-functional teams on technical inquiries.
  • Develop test fixtures and plans; document and analyze results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in PCB design (Altium Designer required).
  • Elevator industry knowledge preferred.
  • Technical Skills

  • Altium Designer and AutoCAD (advanced).
  • PCB / PCBA design and manufacturing (DFM, DFT, DFX, SI / PI).
  • Analog, digital, and power circuit design.
  • Simulation and testing (Electrical, Thermal, Logical; LTSpice, MATLAB).
  • Design for code compliance (ASME A17.1 / ASME A17.5 / CSA / UL).
  • Embedded C, VHDL / Verilog programming; FPGA, SoM, SoC experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (sheet metal fabrication ideal).
  • Autodesk Inventor, Adept (document management), Visual (ERP) a plus.
  • Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and apply FMEA methodology.
  • Tools & Equipment

  • Multimeter, oscilloscope, function generator, Hi-Pot tester.
  • 3D modeling and design tools.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range (Texas and Illinois Applicants) : $79,000-$101,200
