The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and requests. Operates a cash register and the duties which correspond. Packages product, works with drive-up and / or carry-out. Replenishes product as needed.

Accountable and reports to the District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of GM, Perishables, and Store Operations; Service Managers. Positions that report to you : None.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, smiling and greeting customers in a friendly manner, assisting customers, answering the telephone promptly, working with co-workers as a team, operating cash register accurately, redeeming promotional coupons, stocking, facing, rotating merchandise, communicating clearly, reviewing weekly store ad, keeping register area clean, comparing totals on cash register, understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures, adhering to company guidelines, and reporting to work on time.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include assisting store management, knowing code dates on perishable items, changing register tape and ribbons, assisting in other areas of store, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to carry out detailed instructions, do arithmetic calculations, understand and follow instructions, and perform physical activities.

Education and experience requirements are not specified.

Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently, visual requirements, and performing various physical activities.

Working conditions include exposure to temperature extremes, possible dampness, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, exposure to chemicals and solvents, and a fast paced work environment.

Equipment used to perform the job includes pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, fork lift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, and fax.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $11.13 to $14.00 depending on experience.
