Overview

CGI has an immediate need for a Splunk Engineer to join our Information Security Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment supporting one of the largest customers. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies. The role focuses on managing and optimizing the Splunk environment, developing dashboards, integrating diverse log sources, and supporting enterprise-level security initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Splunk development and administration, with a strong grasp of AWS services and Python scripting for automation and data enrichment.

This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA or Plano, TX. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage and optimize the Splunk environment, including development and administration tasks.
  • Develop and maintain insightful dashboards tailored to business needs.
  • Onboard and normalize logs from various sources (servers, cloud platforms, applications).
  • Integrate diverse log sources and support enterprise-level security initiatives.
  • Collaborate with AWS services and use Python scripting for automation and data enrichment.
  • Translate technical issues into actionable solutions and support incident response as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Splunk development and administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for indexing, search, and performance issues.
  • Ability to design and implement custom dashboards.
  • Expertise in optimizing search queries and data ingestion strategies.
  • Familiarity with Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) for threat detection and incident response.
  • Experience onboarding and normalizing logs from various sources (servers, cloud platforms, applications).
  • Solid understanding of AWS services such as CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and S3.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and API integrations.
  • Ability to translate technical issues into actionable solutions and work in a fast-paced, security-focused environment.
  • Splunk certifications (e.g., Splunk Certified Power User, Splunk Certified Admin) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Splunk in a security engineering or system administration role.
  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Compensation and Benefits

    A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $137,100.00.
