Responsibilities
- Understand complex problems and propose solutions that account for effects across the product.
- Break down large projects into prioritized implementable steps, working in partnership with Product and Engineering Leadership on planning the right next steps for impact vs effort.
- Draft specific user stories and get the right stakeholders across UX, Engineering / QA, Marketing, and Customer Experience to ensure all elements of development and release are accounted for.
- Plan releases, sometimes broadly across the product or directly with certain clients through a User Acceptance Testing process.
- Own the roadmap, create buy-in, frame the solution, and manage the solution throughout the business.
- Work with marketing to draft release notes and customer facing materials, to inform all internal / external stakeholders of changes and value achieved in the product.
- Initiate and run user discovery and acceptance testing meetings with our clients and end users.
- Interact with internal stakeholders to ensure everyone has visibility of the plan and collate any information you need to achieve this.
- Work closely with Engineering to plan sprints and quarters, grooming the backlog at both a macro and micro scale.
- Plan, monitor, and analyze throughout the process to ensure you are on the right track and escalate with leadership when delivery risks are present.
- Establish and report on product metrics monthly to highlight effectiveness of the product across departments, and track progress towards quarterly and yearly goals.
- Look ahead as business needs evolve and suggest preparations that anticipate user needs.
- Understand the government business license and tax industry across the nation to empathize with users and materialize their needs.
- Communicate complex, technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences at all levels across the business either through static documents or live presentation.
Qualifications
4+ years of software Product Management experience as leading stakeholder of product changes.Experience building a system of record platform (CRM / ERP software like Salesforce, Workday etc.) in a cloud environment that supports unique end users with different needs.Experience with APIs or microservice architecture, and standardizing formats to meet different use cases.Demonstrable ability to productize features in a way that is configurable for similar user needs, understanding the core functionality and mechanism that enables various implementations.Experience building a marketplace portal with 2-sided user interactions offering different tool sets for each user type.Experience with workflow steps, integrating inputs and outputs across steps of a process.Proficiency using sprint planning and feature road mapping software, like Jira.Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions and recommendations to drive actions.A strong system thinker who can deconstruct complex problems into smaller parts, considering all personas / users.Ability to create wireframe sketches by hand or in software to convey desired functionality.Ability to prioritize competing opportunities, balance technical needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions.Natural ability to learn from, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders and teams internal and external.Ability to execute methodically, at a regular cadence.Bonus Qualifications
Accounting, banking, or government finance experience or education. An example of this may be understanding how transactions in different areas of a government roll up into the General Ledger.Tax industry experience from either the policy, government, or business perspective.License / permit / credential application or approval experience, whether in a government setting or professional industry.Product Management or related degree or credentialCompensation & Benefits
