Nucor Buildings Group is seeking a Professional Structural Engineer to contribute to sales growth and profitability by designing safe, accurate, and cost-effective metal building systems. You will play a crucial role in the design process, ensuring each project meets high standards of quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design all aspects of metal building systems, including structural steel, wall and roof panels, secondary members, and stability bracing.
  • Creative Design : Develop safe and economical structures that fulfill project requirements while adhering to industry codes and standards. Each project is unique.
  • Technical Analysis : Use proprietary software for frame, secondary, bracing, crane, mezzanine, and panel analysis to ensure structural integrity and performance.
  • Collaborative Approach : Work with the Detailing Department and other team members to communicate design requirements and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversight : Review and check structural drawings for accuracy.
  • Continuous Learning : Grow and develop as an engineer by collaborating with various teams to find innovative solutions and explore career paths within the organization.
  • Safety : Demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer registration in the United States, or have passed the professional exam with the ability to complete registration within two years of accepting the position.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
  • Strong knowledge of structural building codes : IBC, AISC 360, AISC 341, AISC 358, ASCE7, AISI, etc.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in Engineering in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) registration in the United States.
  • Proficiency with metal building design software package.
  • Leadership experience.
