VP of Finance – Affordable Housing
Affordable housing developer is seeking a VP of Finance to oversee all accounting, tax and financial reporting functions, budgeting and cash management.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee all financial and accounting activity
- Responsible for all annual budgets as well as timely and accurate financial reporting
- Monitor all financial results against budget on a monthly basis
- Perform financial analysis for each property and project
- Ensure all costs are tracked and reported for development projects
- Responsible for annual audits and proper filing of tax returns
- Cash flow planning and projections
- Ensure appropriate internal control systems over financial procedures
- Maintain and update all accounting policies and procedures
- Legal, regulatory and partnership compliance for all financial and property management functions
- Oversee financing strategies for projects in development and assist in the negotiating, underwriting and closing development transactions
- Work closely with leadership on departmental goals and strategic planning
- Develop forecasts and maintain financial plans
- Develop and maintain relationships with funders, lenders and vendors
- Develop policies and procedures to transition properties from construction / development to being operational
- Assists with planning, administering and monitoring risk management activities, including annual insurance renewal process
- Oversee cash and investments to appropriately balance risk, return and liquidity
- Represents the company to financial partners including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, public officials, and others
- Oversee structuring and administration of corporate and partnership entities
- Hire, supervise and train staff
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Accounting or Finance
- 7 + years of experience in a financial leadership role, preferably in affordable housing or real estate industry
- CPA preferred
- Experience with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC and HUD, a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
