With direction and training from the supervisor and more experienced engineers, produces and checks hydrologic flood frequency analysis and hydraulic designs of culverts, bridges, and storm drainsUses analysis to recommend hydraulic structure sizes to meet the desired capacityPerforms flood frequency analysis and hydraulic analysis using computer programsCollects and assembles the needed data for analysisPrepares input files (data) for computer programs that perform the analyses and compile output in the reportPrepares draft reports and notebooks containing the hydrologic and hydraulic analysisEnsures the designs of other engineers meet technical and policy project requirementsChecks assumptions and design calculations for conformance with governing policy, accuracy, and completenessPreferences
Preference will be given to candidates who have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Water Resources, plus Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) certification.
Knowledge
Knowledge and competence in the principles of engineering hydraulics, flow through bridge waterways, hydrology, and statistical frequency of floods for various watershedsSkilled in the use of computer applications for hydraulic design and office automationAbility to analyze and solve problems to produce complete, legible, and organized solutionsMinimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's Degree (in Engineering)
Experience : 0-2 years of progressive work experience (in Engineering)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Some agencies may require a certificate of registration from the Board of Engineering.
