Location : Munster, IN 46321 (Greater Chicago Area)

Healthcare Setting : Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit (CV-IMCU)

Assignment Type : Travel Nurse Contract

Start Date : December 1, 2025

End Date : March 2, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Nursing Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM), 3 shifts / week

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2020-$2070

Patient Ratio : 1 : 4-5

Weekend Coverage : Every other weekend required

Electronic Documentation : EPIC EMR

Orientation : 26 hours

Qualifications – Registered Nurse (RN)

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiovascular intermediate care or cardiac stepdown nursing

Active Indiana or Compact RN license (required at submission)

Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records

Omnicell experience required

Must pass onsite EKG exam (remediation available)

COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical exemptions only)

Ability to float to similar healthcare units as needed

First-time travel nurses accepted

Responsibilities – Cardiac Stepdown Nurse

Deliver nursing care for adult and geriatric patients needing cardiovascular intermediate and acute care monitoring

Monitor and manage patients post-cardiac, vascular, or thoracic surgery

Administer blood products, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips (no titration)

Provide care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, and high-flow oxygen devices

Interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias

Perform wound care, manage surgical drains, and provide feeding tube care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more

Float to other nursing units as required based on census and acuity

Document all patient care accurately in EPIC EMR
