Pay Rate : $28.66 – $32.88 / hr

Shift / Hours : M–F, 7 : 00AM–3 : 30PM, with rotation every 4th weekend

Job Summary :

The Medical Laboratory Scientist plays a key role in performing high-complexity laboratory testing to support timely and accurate patient diagnosis. This position ensures strict adherence to regulatory guidelines, quality control protocols, and organizational policies while maintaining a professional, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Follow all laboratory procedures for specimen handling , processing, test analysis, result reporting, and record maintenance.

Maintain documentation confirming proficiency testing samples are analyzed in the same manner as patient specimens.

Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures per departmental SOPs.

Review and release patient test results.

Comply with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and all safety regulations .

Adhere to quality control policies; document QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.

Follow laboratory procedures when test systems fall outside acceptable performance criteria.

Identify issues affecting test performance or reporting; resolve or escalate to senior technologist / supervisor.

Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from expected performance.

Report STAT and critical results following departmental protocol.

Answer questions from customers or lab staff when applicable.

Maintain complete records of all on-site testing activities.

Ensure general department cleanliness and organization.

Track reagent / test kit receiving dates, expiration dates, and opened dates when applicable.

Review and train on new procedures.

Attend monthly departmental and required training / educational meetings.

Participate in all applicable safety training and know the location / use of all safety equipment and manuals.

Participate in regulatory or government inspections as needed.

Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Required Experience :

Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing.

Strong computer skills with the ability to work across multiple systems.

Knowledge of QC and QA processes and all major laboratory areas.

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS / BA in Chemistry / Biology; or Associate degree in Laboratory Science / Medical Technology; or previously qualified Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (3 / 14 / 1990).

Foreign-educated candidates must provide IERF credential evaluation; U.S.-educated must provide original transcripts.

National certification (ASCP or AMT) required or eligible.

Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing preferred.

Nice-to-Have Experience :

Customer service experience or direct client interaction.

Experience supporting departmental training or quality initiatives.
