Consumer & Construction Loan Underwriter

Position Summary

The Consumer and Construction Loan Underwriter is responsible for the underwriting of residential construction loans and residential consumer loans. They will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing construction and consumer loan applications to ensure compliance with industry guidelines and bank policies.

Essential Functions

• Review credit, income, asset, property and project documentation from the consumer to ensure compliance with all bank policy and underwriting guidelines.
• Responsible for efficient processing of construction and consumer loan applications including underwriting, loan documentation.
• Assist management during the processing of both consumer and construction loans on an as needed basis.
• Monitor loan turnaround time.
• Communicate with mortgage sales and operations staff to maintain a high level of customer service.
• Support branch network by communicating loan status, policy, procedures, and products.
• Work closely with loan production officers and bank department managers and staff to promote open and effective communication and to ensure quality service delivery to customers.
• Communicates with Management on a loan-by-loan basis in recommending exceptions to policy.
• Maintain current knowledge of all industry and bank policies and procedures.
