Summary
The Clerk III is responsible for processing and maintaining all criminal and civil legal instruments and records for the Justice of the Peace. This individual will process all requests for defensive driving and deferred disposition accurately process incoming mail determine and collect appropriate fees and fines and create process and maintain legal documents. The Clerk III will have daily contact with the public local law enforcement agencies attorneys and other county departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and can distinguish between civil criminal and juvenile documents for processing. Duties include the following :

Mandatory Qualifications
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; two (2) years experience in general office procedures and direct contact with the public; ability to navigate and use general functions of Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required; basic computer literacy required; basic accounting procedures; experience with criminal / civil case filing procedures and familiarization with legal documents; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
