Job description
A correctional facility is seeking a psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services to inmates. While in Boston, Massachusetts, you have the opportunity to see one of the most historic cities in the United States. In between all the tours and famous sites, take a trip to Fenway Park or get some seafood at any of the downtown spots like the Union Oyster House which is one of the oldest restaurants still in operation today in the United States. This is a medium-security correctional facility. The locum will be providing psychiatric care to sex offenders. Regular work hours are 7:30 4:00 with a lunch break. Patients are adult male inmates from 18 years of age and up. The locum will perform routine mental health exams on inmates referred by nursing, medical professional staff, correctional staff, and social workers, under established guidelines. This is becoming 100% hospital and treatment-oriented, so everyone in the facility will go through the admissions process that includes Psychiatric evaluation, not merely those with a referral from another discipline. The locum will provide psychiatric treatment and orders; studies, tests, referrals, and ancillary services that are required and that are consistent with medical/psychiatric authoritys commitment to provide basic mental health care services. The credentialing timeframe is approximately 4 weeks.
