Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $230,000 - $322,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description

The Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence among its faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking outstanding physicians to join the Division of Emergency Medicine atRady Children's Hospital -San Diego (RCHSD) and our satellite location in Murrieta, CA.

Ranked among the nation's top 10 Best Children's Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, RCHSD is a 511-bed, nonprofit pediatric teaching facility and Level I Trauma Center that provides exceptional medical and surgical care to a broad population of more than one million children and adolescents. As the region's primary and tertiary pediatric hospital and the clinical home of the UC San Diego Department of Pediatrics, Rady Children's continues to expand its impact and services. The hospital has also begun construction on a new patient tower featuring an expanded emergency department, with completion anticipated in 2028.

The Division is committed to excelling in clinical care, teaching, research, quality improvement, community service, global health, and physician wellness. The Division consists of 55 PEM attending physicians, 20 Urgent Care pediatricians, and 8 AHPs providing the majority of pediatric emergency care for San Diego County. The main campus ED has a census of 100,000+ visits per year, with 15,000+ per year at our satellite location. Four pediatric urgent care centers have a combined census of 58,000+ visits per year. The PEM Division supports a flourishing ACGME-accredited PEM fellowship, a POCUS fellowship, and is the training site for over 200+ residents from multiple programs, UCSD medical students, and PA students. Faculty provide high-quality training and teaching to these learners.

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients. In addition, they will provide training and teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows, and engage in scholarly activities and research.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
