- Position Overview :
The Veterinary Surgical and Dental Services Supervisor is a working leadership role responsible for supervising surgical and dental operations, mentoring technical staff, and ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care. This role requires clinical excellence, strong leadership, and an eye for operational detail.
- Key Responsibilities :
- Clinical Excellence
- Assist in surgical and dental procedures including anesthesia monitoring, instrument prep, and recovery.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and best practices.
- Support veterinarians during advanced and complex cases.
- Provide exceptional post-operative care and maintain accurate records.
- Team Supervision & Leadership
- Mentor, Coach, and Supervise surgical / dental technical staff.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Coordinate daily team workflows and surgical schedules.
- Support a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
- Operational Coordination
- Maintain inventory, equipment, and cleanliness in surgical / dental areas.
- Oversee pre-op through post-op flow, ensuring efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize daily operations.
- Exhibit big-picture thinking to anticipate downstream impacts of decisions.
- Identify and lead improvements in clinical care and workflow.
- Qualifications :
- Education & Experience
- Certified Veterinary Technician
- (CVT, LVT, or equivalent) - Required.
- Minimum
- 5 years of clinical experience
- , with surgical / dental focus.
- Prior leadership / supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Commitment to
- 20 hours of annual CE
- , including management-focused education per AAHA standards.

- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in veterinary software, recordkeeping, and terminology.

- Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs independently.
- Able to sit, stand, and walk on hard floors for long periods.
- Comfortable working in noisy, high-stimulus environments.
