QUALIFICATIONS
A professional nurse currently licensed in the state of Arkansas. They must demonstrate the ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the nursing care given on their specified nursing unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The staff nurse is responsible to the Director of Nursing for planning, supervising, and evaluating :
- All nursing functions during their tour of duty.
- Administration of nursing home routines and policies during their tour of duty.
- See that all personnel on the unit during their tour of duty function to the maximum capacity.
- Maintaining the highest quality of resident care in compliance with the physician's orders.
- The nursing care administered by the private duty nurses.
- Cooperating in planning and evaluating experiences for employees under their supervision.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications, per HIPAA regulations.
- Refraining from any type of gossip.
- Participation on designated committees in nursing service.
DUTIES
Functions related to patient care-provide comprehensive nursing care to all residents by :
Cooperating with the supervisor in setting up a nursing care plan for each resident.Assigning specific duties to nursing personnel under their supervision.Providing proper assistance to medical staff.Following appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and themselves.Following established infection control policies and procedures.Directing and supervising the activities of the nursing personnel assigned to the unit during their tour of duty.Checking all residents' charts for accurate reporting and recording of symptoms, reactions, and progress.Visiting residents frequently to evaluate their condition and need for nursing care.Rendering direct nursing care as needed.Working in any resident care area on which my immediate supervisor may assign me.Supervising CNAs & residents that need assistance with feeding.Enforcing CNA training.On duty orientation for licensed personnel.Obtaining laboratory specimens.Assisting both nurses and CNAs during stressful and emergency situations.Observing and assessing for resident changes in conditions.Checking Kardex for accuracy weekly.Keeping daily and weekly BP request updated.Checking daily, weekly, & monthly weights.Completing all tasks per resident in the EHR - PointClickCare (PCC). Document as needed per each individual assessment and situation.Communicating as needed with APRN and MD for appropriate resident care.Reviewing narcotic books daily.Assuming duties of Director of Nursing in their absence.Weekly Decubitus Sheets.Other duties as assigned.Additional duties :
Assist with activities of daily living (ADL's) such as hygiene, housekeeping, basic grooming, basic daily needs to promote functional independence.Assist with nutrition, hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning devices and restorative care.Treats all residents with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents' rights.Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state / federal regulations and guidelines.Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to HR or compliance officer.Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and / or administrator. Protects residents from abuse, and cooperates with all investigations.Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and / or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility's emergency plan.Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.As a condition of employment, completes any assigned training and skills competency.PERSONAL SKILLS AND TRAITS DESIRED / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
