Blue River / Riverdale Nursing and Rehab is seeking a dynamic and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to serve as the Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) at our Skilled Nursing Facility. This dual role combines clinical practice in speech therapy with leadership responsibilities overseeing the rehabilitation department. The DOR is responsible for supervising therapy staff, coordinating services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting residents in achieving their highest functional potential.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical (Speech Therapy)
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat residents with speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on resident needs and goals.
Provide ongoing therapy, monitor progress, and adjust interventions as necessary.
Educate residents, families, and staff on communication and swallowing strategies.
Document therapy sessions and outcomes in compliance with state, federal, and facility guidelines.
Administrative / Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the rehabilitation department (PT, OT, SLP services).
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate therapy staff, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
Coordinate therapy schedules, manage caseloads, and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and facility regulations, including documentation, billing, and quality measures.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident care plans and discharge planning.
Monitor key performance metrics such as patient outcomes, productivity, and satisfaction.
Participate in facility meetings, quality assurance programs, and strategic planning.
Serve as liaison with families, physicians, and outside agencies regarding therapy services.
Qualifications
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or rehabilitation setting.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance billing practices for rehab services.
