Backcountry Wellness provides immersive programming for children and adolescents who live with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating, Avoidant / Restrictive Food Intake, Orthorexia, and Other Specific Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED).
Job Summary :
The Daytime Care Coach (DCC) is responsible for supporting programming throughout the facility during daytime and weekend hours. The DCC is an important part of maintaining the overall health and vitality of patient base while also assisting with facilitation of daytime programming and supervision. The DCC will be responsible for the facility and the patient base of six, providing supervision and support to the nursing and clinical staff, and ensuring a tranquil and safe environment at all times. The DCC plays a key role in the treatment team, providing supervision and documentation detailing patient status and conduct within the facility during daytime hours.
Essential Job Functions :
- Supervise the daytime / weekend shift in the residential (8 patients) or day program facilities, both located in Greenwich, CT
- Collaborate with the broader treatment team to highlight strengths and weaknesses of patients throughout their time in the program
- Create a tranquil and safe environment within the facility
- Help address any patient needs or concerns during their stay at Backcountry Wellness
- Help lead group activities or program outings with support from the clinical staff
- Assist with daily programming and help facilitate patient care and nursing in an orderly and tranquil fashion
- Support the RN and clinical staff with emergency care if necessary
- Record patient notes, attendance and observations
- Demonstrate professionalism and act as a role model for patients as their caretaker
- Attend meals with patients and help facilitate the broader program including meals, cleanup, clinical groups, snacks, etc.
- Be consistent, on time and reliable as a key resource for the program to run properly
- Communicate effectively with supervisory staff so that all shifts are properly covered
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a relevant subject
- Preferred experience in a mental health environment, eating disorder program, or caretaking environment
- A calming presence and demeanor with the ability to manage living situations independently
