The Role
We are seeking a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) with OASAS Gambling Specialty Certification and 3+ years of experience to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will provide individual and group counseling for clients with substance use disorders and gambling addiction, adhering to OASAS Part 822 regulations and professional scope of practice. This role requires flexibility and commitment to working with adolescents , homeless individuals , and those with severe mental illness (SMI) .
Responsibilities
What You Will Do
Develops a treatment plan in concert with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor that reflects an understanding of specialized Track issues as related to the physical, medical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs and specific diagnosis.Uses a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with patients and internal and external treatment team members to help support patients in their treatment and recovery.Provides clinical consultation to referral resources, Mentors, family members, and others to help support patients in their recovery.Works closely with patients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care as indicated.Collects and reviews referral information upon assignment of patients from the referral source and consults with others as needed to support coordination of services and scheduling of patient interviews.Based on assessments, make referrals to the most appropriate programs and agencies in an effort to help patients access the right level of care to best meet their treatment needs.Assists patients with scheduling an admission or first appointment date at the program or facility where they are referred.Monitors patient access to and involvement with treatment and other providers to help address barriers to treatment and the recovery process.Qualifications
Who You Will Be
High School Diploma or Equivalent.Required : OASAS CASAC Certification & Gambling Specialty CertificationMinimum three (3) years of related experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) preferably within an Opioid Treatment Program.Knowledge and / or training in Trauma Informed Care and various organizational treatment.Knowledge of and experience working with persons with co-occurring disorders.Knowledge of the laws regarding personnel and client information.The individual's work schedule would be Monday and Friday from 8am to 4pm at the Forbell Men's Shelter and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 : 30am to 7 : 30pm the Jamaica Outpatient. The individual must be willing to work with adolescents, individuals with severe mental health diagnosis, and individuals with substance abuse concerns. The individual must be comfortable in facilitating groups.
