POSITION SUMMARY
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, financial performance, compliance, and strategic direction of the DME service line. This role ensures the effective delivery of medical equipment to patients, regulatory adherence, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency. The manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, vendors, and healthcare providers to optimize service quality and profitability.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Oversee daily operations of the DME service line, including equipment procurement, distribution, maintenance, and compliance.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, including patient equipment setup and education.
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CMS, FDA, OSHA, HIPAA).
- Maintain accreditation standards from organizations such as The Joint Commission (TJC) or the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
- Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions for non-compliance issues.
- Manage the financial performance of the DME service line, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, and cost containment.
- Monitor key financial metrics (e.g., revenue, expenses, profit margins) and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with billing and reimbursement teams to ensure accurate claims submission and reimbursement for DME services.
- Establish and maintain relationships with DME manufacturers, distributors, and service providers.
- Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing patient concerns and resolving service-related issues.
- Partner with other leaders to support patient DME related needs throughout MBMC. Identify opportunities to expand DME services and enhance market share.
- Develop patient education programs to enhance proper DME usage and compliance.
- Provide a positive work environment, team inclusiveness, and help staff to achieve personal and professional growth.
- Perform the hiring, training, and any necessary discipline of employees within adherence to MBMC standards.
