Senior Cost Manager, Peoria, AZ
WORLD WIDE PROFESSIONAL SOLUTIONS is a project solutions organization committed to implementing lean constructions, collaborative contracting, and execution approaches to enable breakthroughs in performance. We are currently seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join our team in Peoria, AZ on a large-scale industrial construction project. This individual will lead all aspects of project cost management, including establishing cost control procedures, overseeing a team of discipline-specific cost engineers, and managing all interfaces with the General Contractor and client teams related to cost review, validation, and reporting.
The Senior Cost Manager is responsible for developing and executing all project cost control processes and systems. This includes setting up workflows for pay applications, change management, allowances, forecasting, and cost performance reporting. This role is also heavily involved in supporting the Progressive GMP contracting strategy, reviewing RFPs for trade packages, challenging contractor pricing, and working closely with the client to evaluate and approve trade partner recommendations from the General Contractor. The ideal candidate will bring a structured, analytical approach to cost management and possess strong leadership experience to drive results through a team of cost engineers.
Responsibilities
- Establish all cost management processes and procedures for the project, including pay application review, change order workflows, allowance tracking, and cost forecasting.
- Develop cost performance reporting tools and dashboards that generate clear KPIs related to total project value, exposure, contingency status, and trade-level performance.
- Manage a team of discipline-specific cost engineers, providing leadership and support to ensure that each engineer is validating incoming cost data from the GC accurately and consistently.
- Lead monthly cost reviews and collaborate with the Project Controls and Scheduling teams to maintain accurate projections and alignment with physical progress.
- Serve as the primary cost interface between WWPS, the General Contractor, and the client.
- Conduct detailed reviews of contractor RFPs for each GMP package, ensuring scope clarity, budget alignment, and market-competitive pricing.
- Participate in all trade partner selection meetings and help the client assess the GC's recommendations, offering insights on value, risk, and alignment with project goals.
- Proactively challenge proposed pricing from the GC and subcontractors during the buyout process to drive cost efficiency and eliminate unnecessary scope creep or duplication.
- Maintain a master change log and exposure register to ensure transparency across all cost movements and potential risks.
- Support the preparation of executive-level cost reports and funding documentation as needed by the client.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction cost management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role on large-scale industrial, infrastructure, or advanced manufacturing projects.Strong understanding of Progressive GMP, CMAR, or similar collaborative contracting methods.Demonstrated ability to review trade partner proposals, evaluate scope alignment, and identify cost-saving opportunities during the buyout phase.Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams of cost engineers and interfacing directly with clients, general contractors, and procurement teams.Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with cost control software platforms.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead conversations around cost, risk, and financial performance with internal and external stakeholders.Experience working in an owner-representative or construction management capacity preferred.Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field required.Advanced certifications such as CCP (Certified Cost Professional), MRICS, or PMP preferred.Why Join WWPS
