About The Role
As the Lead Trainer, you will ensure the successful completion of training activities for all Research Associates in Scientific Services, maintaining compliance with GLP standards. You will assist the Training Specialist with planning, scheduling, coordination, and document management, and support study supervisors and directors as needed.
What You’ll Do Here
- Conduct training activities for the Scientific Services group to ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations.
- Provide hands‑on training for staff on clinical observations, food consumption, body weights, urine collection, anesthesia administration, blood draws of all routes, dose administration, euthanasia, catheter placement, restraint, enrichment, feeding, and removal of food from laboratory animals.
- Perform uniform training and assessment across all staff.
- Serve as a role model for accurate documentation, mentoring new staff and demonstrating pride in your work.
- Foster positive work ethics and teamwork to support quality and reproducible data collection.
- Train others in proper documentation of training procedures and data acquisition, ensuring compliance with SOPs and protocols.
- Review and revise SOPs and lesson plans to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with all groups to improve processes.
- Review and assemble training documentation in a timely manner.
- Carry out additional training duties to meet objectives set by Department Management.
- Communicate progress toward training deadlines to the Training Specialist and Department Management.
- Follow written and verbal instructions : SOPs, protocols, daily schedules, etc.
- Handle and restrain laboratory animals as required by site specifications.
- Perform QC review of data promptly.
- Monitor and report changes in animal behavior or health and problems with the animal room.
- Maintain animals and facilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain general organization and cleanliness of work area, including cleaning and disinfecting procedure rooms.
- Coordinate with different departments to ensure consistency of training practices.
- Support and participate in safety study procedures when necessary.
- Create, review, and revise SOPs related to animals, technical procedures, and facility issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
High School Diploma and / or GED required; BS / BA in a scientific discipline preferred.At least 2 years’ experience as a trainer; 3 years’ experience in a research or regulated environment preferred.Experience leading and performing in‑life research studies in various laboratory species.LAT certification preferred.Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and presentation applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret safety rules, procedures, and study documents.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to use mathematical concepts for calculating and interpreting scientific data.Ongoing GLP training and training on departmental procedures and SOPs.Self‑motivated, with the ability to work independently and cross‑functionally on process improvements.Highly organized with strong attention to detail.Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities.Positive attitude and good teamwork skills.Comfortable communicating with all levels of management and staff; able to identify and resolve problems.Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.What We Offer
