SUMMARY
Assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in providing, planning, coordinating or managing nursing care, nursing services and health education to residents and patients in the Subacute Unit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in ensuring Subacute Unit’s nursing and respiratory staff is providing quality and appropriate resident / patient care that meets or exceeds company and regulatory standards.
May assist with recruiting, hiring, providing orientation / training, and retaining a sufficient number of qualified staff in the Subacute Unit to carry out the responsibilities of nursing services. Ensures employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance appraisals are conducted on a timely basis.
Responsible for scheduling of nursing staff in the Subacute Unit and performing rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing and respiratory care.
Responsible for maintaining administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the proper charting and documentation of care and of medications and treatments in the Subacute Unit.
Maybe responsible for quality assurance, infection control, and the development of staff in the Subacute Unit as determined by the Director of Nursing.
Helps develop and implement the written staffing plan and nursing schedule in the Subacute Unit that reflects the needs of the resident population.
Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and / or federal regulations in the Subacute Unit.
Adheres to scope of practice limitations based on qualifications in the Subacute Unit.
May occasionally be required to perform patient care duties in the Subacute Unit but will need to complete the staffing regulations as directed to the Subacute Registered Nurse Coordinator.
In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the duties and responsibilities of the DON may be delegated to this position in the Subacute Unit.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
R egistered Nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with minimum 2 years experience in skilled nursing and / or subacute care required. Minimum of 1 year experience in management or supervision in skilled nursing or subacute care required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the DON in the supervision of nursing staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible in the Subacute Unit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
May occasionally be required to work non-standard hours. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, see, talk and hear. Employee will occasionally assist to lift and / or transfer patients weighing between 100 to 250 pounds. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Participates in (or conducts) company-sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of resident’s protected health information. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and state and federal law. SALARY RANGE : $58 to $62 PER HOUR DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
