Overview
The EHS Representative is responsible for the administrative support and coordination of health and safety efforts for the facility. This position is also responsible for maintaining compliance with all state, federal and local governmental EHS regulations, including writing programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, audits, permits, monitoring, and testing, training and medical surveillance per guidelines.
Wage range $20.50-$33.40 / hr
Responsibilities
- Works closely with EHS Manager, EHS Regional Manager & Operations serving as a key member to ensure proper procedures including environmental compliance, training and tracks chemical inventory of the facility
- Coordinate with local authorities to dispose hazardous materials / waste / recyclables and perform required testing per local / corporate / regulations / requirements
- Manage and own incident reporting and investigations and assist with the development of root cause corrections in those facilities with an EHS Manager
- Develop or assist in creating metrics to track areas of improvement and provide recommendations to management with action plans to align the team with processes and deliverables to meet target goals
- Maintain Progress Rail Services written Safety Program including safety records (e.g., Safety Data Sheets - SDS) and ensure occupational health program documentation is available and in compliance; enter data into safety systems, conduct audits to identify unsafe conditions, non-compliance and hazardous conditions; track or log and follow-up on safety observations
- Administer first aid for minor injuries as needed and refer more serious cases for medical care
- Conduct New Hire Orientation, deliver safety and health training programs, distribute PPE to employees and maintain inventory (when applicable per facility guidelines)
- Collaborate with Facility Management as needed with inventory or other duties assigned by EHS Manager, Plant Manager, HR Manager, and Regional EHS Manager
Qualifications and Experience
High School diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety preferredFamiliarity with federal / state environmental and safety rules and regulationsOSHA 30-hour training requiredAssociate Safety Professional (ASP) certification1-2 years in a safety, environmental, medical or case management roleHazardous Material handling trainingEducation / Training
