Senior Estimator I and Senior Estimator II (Heavy Civil)
Northern California | Concord, San Jose, or Watsonville
A long-established heavy civil contractor in Northern California is hiring Senior Estimators due to planned retirements within the estimating group. These roles focus on large public and private infrastructure projects and offer long-term stability, flexibility, and strong compensation.
What You’ll Be Doing
Preparing detailed estimates and proposals for heavy civil projects
Sr. Estimator I: projects $5M+
Sr. Estimator II: projects $25M+
Reviewing plans, specifications, and site conditions across earthwork, structures, paving, underground utilities, and concrete
Developing labor, equipment, and material pricing using HeavyBid and AGTEK
Participating in bid strategy, risk reviews, and preconstruction meetings
Working closely with field operations to ensure accurate, executable bids
For Sr. Estimator II, mentoring estimators and leading preconstruction efforts, including joint ventures
Background That Fits
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience
Sr. Estimator I: 10+ years in heavy civil estimating and/or operations
Sr. Estimator II: 15+ years of heavy civil estimating experience; management experience preferred
Strong experience with HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK Takeoff, MS Office, and Primavera
Knowledge of Caltrans and other agency DBE requirements
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $175,000–$200,000
Annual bonus: typically $25,000–$50,000+
