Tooling General Manager - MUST have plastics
Location : Buffalo Grove, IL
Compensation : $180K – $235K
This role will oversee tooling operations, new tool and mold development, process improvements, and maintenance of production molds. The General Manager will ensure product quality through robust testing methods and tools, while driving operational excellence and business growth.
This position is accountable for directing all manufacturing activities at the site, ensuring products are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards, and cost goals. The General Manager will also oversee manufacturing capacity, production control, materials, warehousing, facilities, maintenance, and industrial engineering functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the site to achieve business growth, profitability, and operational goals aligned with company vision and mission.
- Assess markets, develop and maintain strategic alliances with key customers, and drive customer engagement.
- Influence and negotiate with executives and major clients to advance business objectives.
- Provide strong leadership with effective human relations and business skills at all levels of the organization.
- Direct execution and develop process expertise to deliver customer solutions rapidly and cost-effectively.
- Manage tooling requisitions from prototype through mass production.
- Oversee tooling improvements, major repairs, and engineering change notices for molds.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs for production molds.
- Enhance manufacturing processes through research, design, modification, and testing of methods and equipment.
- Improve efficiency by analyzing tooling and processes.
- Drive quality and safety improvements, including training for tool room teams.
- Oversee functional areas including Engineering, Procurement, Materials Management, Regulatory, Quality, Warehousing & Logistics, Business Excellence, HR, and Financial Controls.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; MBA preferred.10+ years of industry experience, including at least 12 years in Operations Management at the executive level.Proven success leading large teams and managing multi-million-dollar revenues.Strong track record of improving operational metrics (turns, quality, delivery, cycle times, costs, inventory).Experience in reverse logistics, warranty / non-warranty repair, and service (preferred).Ability to influence senior leaders, executives, and key clients.Hands-on NPI experience managing new customer programs from concept through delivery.Strong sales development, operational, and financial skills.Experience working with ODMs and / or OEMs.Benefits
