Position Summary
The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting department by performing a variety of administrative and accounting tasks, including data entry, and accounts payable processing. This position plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping, assisting with payroll reporting requirements, and timely vendor payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain accurate accounting and financial data in the companys accounting system.
- Process accounts payable transactions, including verifying invoices, obtaining approvals.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist with weekly check runs and maintain organized AP files.
- Support month-end closing processes by providing accurate data and documentation.
- Assist with audits by preparing supporting documentation as requested.
- Communicate professionally with vendors, employees, and project managers regarding payments and other financial inquiries.
- Perform general administrative duties to support the accounting team as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience :
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.13 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.Skills & Competencies :
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.Work Schedule :
Full-time, MondayFriday, 8-5. Occasional overtime may be required during reporting or audit periods.
