Position Summary
The IT Technician / System Administrator provides technical and operational support to company users across headquarters and regional offices. This includes managing help desk operations, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, and ensuring the reliability and security of the company's IT infrastructure. The role supports local and wide area networks (LAN / WAN), Active Directory, cloud systems, and cybersecurity compliance in coordination within the company and external partners.
The incumbent also contributes to IT system design, implementation, configuration management, and disaster recovery planning while ensuring adherence to federal and state security and technology standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support & Systems Administration
- Manage help desk tickets, troubleshoot and resolve user issues.
- Maintain and monitor LAN / WAN connectivity, server performance, and system security.
- Administer Active Directory , Office 365 , Azure , and related Microsoft platforms.
- Assist in computer imaging, deployment, maintenance, and hardware setup.
- Participate in large-scale IT deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
- Support VOIP , A / V , and video teleconferencing (VTC) systems.
System Design, Integration, and Cloud Support
Support the integration and interoperability of IT systems and services.Research and recommend new IT solutions, tools, and methodologies.Collaborate on cloud-relevant solutions to align with business and security needs.Streamline and document configuration management processes.Cybersecurity & Compliance
Develop and draft information security policies and procedures .Serve as a Cybersecurity Specialist during incident response and recovery.Participate in security authorization , contingency planning , and disaster recovery exercises .Ensure compliance with HUD and Texas General Land Office security requirements.Conduct system security and operational reviews; identify and mitigate risks.Advisory & Training
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.Prepare and present briefings and reports to management.Lead Lunch & Learn sessions and other training to improve staff IT literacy.Advise management on best practices for IT security and operations.Collaboration & Leadership
Coordinate with agency IT personnel and external vendors.Provide input and leadership in developing secure, efficient IT systems.Serve as a technical consultant and team lead for IT operations and projects.Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Technical Knowledge
Minimum 3 years of experience as an IT Technician / System Administrator in a large / multi-office environment.Proficiency with :Help Desk systems and ticketing workflows.
System administration, monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and remediation .Microsoft technologies - Office 365, Active Directory, Azure, Exchange, MS SQL.Data management / Data Warehousing .VTC systems , configuration, and troubleshooting.Analytical & Leadership Skills
Strong analytical and research skills for evaluating IT systems and recommending improvements.Ability to formulate technical documents, policies, and reports.Leadership capability to guide projects and implement new IT strategies.Certifications (Preferred)
Microsoft Certified (e.g., MCSA, Azure Administrator)CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+)Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check that includes being fingerprinted.
