Library Technical Assistant (Safety) position located at Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, Tuolumne County. Please indicate the position number on your application : 099-234-1318-001.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of the Supervisor of Academic Instruction, CF or Educational Administrator designee, and functional lead of the Senior Librarian (CF) or Librarian (CF) when applicable, the Library Technical Assistant (LTA) (Safety) will perform the following duties in accordance with the State Personnel Board classification specification within the Institution\'s Legal or General Library collections. The duties may be performed in a library staffed by a Senior Librarian or Librarian, or the LTA may facilitate incarcerated people\'s access to libraries by performing these duties in a satellite library without continuous active supervision from an education administrator, a Senior Librarian or Librarian.

The LTA will have responsibility to supervise, train, and evaluate the work of at least two incarcerated people library clerks for a minimum of 120 hours per pay period. Maintain order, prevent escapes and injury to themselves or to property; maintain security of work areas and work material; and inspect premises for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 30, 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Working Conditions

About this location Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country. It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities. The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park.

The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers 31 male camps located throughout California.
