Responsibilities
- Establish continuous improvement goals and executes action plans.
- Utilize proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, workflow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill set.
- Assist other PEs on 8D (Eight Disciplines of team-oriented problem-solving), FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), and implementation of Kaizen activities.
- Provide manufacturing technical support to Design Project teams.
- Document product designs by preparing cost analyses, review drawings and engineering change requests.
- Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.
- Participate on cross functional teams to launch product / assembly line modifications, resolve issues, and support product improvements.
- Assist in the development of project schedules related to existing product / assembly line launches or design modifications.
- Assist in the development of new suppliers for manufacturing equipment, develop key suppliers, and create an environment of continuous improvement in equipment uptime, efficiency and quality.
- Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs and day to day issues.
Knowledge & Skills
Basic knowledge of manufacturing via cooperative education, internship or prior work experience in a manufacturing environment.Lean manufacturing : Kaizen, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology, time studies.Understanding of fabrication, stamping, tooling, molding and / or controls is preferred.Knowledge of HVAC specifications and standards is preferred.Knowledge of engineering change processes is preferred.Software skills including MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective organizational and time management skills.Defines and plans own activities. Able to complete detailed process work.Reports status of own work and junior members work to team.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.Experience
0-2 years minimum experience in a production / manufacturing role in sheet metal or related environment in HVAC, automotive or appliance industry.Education / Certification
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics or Systems Engineering required.Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.50% office work / 50% standing on production floor (project related).Standing, walking, bending, stooping, etc. to move, view and transfer product.High volume manufacturing environment with forklift traffic - PPE required.May have higher noise volume in areas hearing protection required.Reports To
