Automation Area Lead - DeltaV (Batch DCS) - Indiana, Indianapolis, USA (Hybrid)
Contract Type : Project-Based (3-Year Duration)
On-Site Requirement : Minimum one week per month during design phases; full-time on-site during commissioning
A global leader in life sciences manufacturing is seeking an experienced Automation Area Lead to support a major pharmaceutical project. This role involves leading the control system design and implementation for a designated process area, ensuring alignment with project-wide automation standards and user requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead automation activities for a specific process area within the project
- Define S88 software architecture and develop functional design specifications
- Collaborate with system integrators to finalize specifications
- Participate in P&ID and control strategy reviews
- Work closely with the Technical Lead and System Integrator to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery
- Align area-specific automation solutions with overall program standards
- Ensure consistency across automation deliverables (e.g., control strategies, phases, recipes)
- Identify and define software components for development or modification
- Communicate progress and technical challenges to the Automation Technical Lead
- Review and approve functional and parameter specifications
- Respond to technical queries from system integrators
- Track and resolve software issues post-acceptance
- Assess and mitigate technical risks within the assigned area
- Maintain compliance with training and regulatory requirements
Candidate Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experienceMinimum 8 years of automation experience in the pharmaceutical industry (API / bulk manufacturing preferred)Proven track record in large-scale pharmaceutical automation projectsAt least 5 years of experience with DeltaV Batch DCSExperience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is a plusStrong collaboration and communication skillsIn-depth knowledge of GMP, regulatory standards, and computer system validationAbility to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
