We are a New Jersey Department of Education–approved private school serving students ages 3–21 who are blind or visually impaired—many with additional physical or developmental disabilities. Since 1891, we’ve paired relationship‑centered instruction with robust therapeutic supports to help students build independence at school, at home, and in the community. Our modern, accessible campus features a therapeutic swimming pool, sensory integration room, full‑size gymnasium, assistive technology library, and an outdoor sensory garden with wheelchair swing—giving clinicians and educators the tools to individualize care. We collaborate across disciplines (PT / OT / SLP, Nursing, Counseling, Orientation & Mobility, Braille & Literacy, PE / Health, and Arts) and align services with the Expanded Core Curriculum to promote real‑world skills and self‑advocacy.

Job Details

Role : Physical Therapist (School‑Based)

Location : Jersey City, NJ

Schedule : Full‑time, school‑day hours (Mon–Fri); additional meetings / IEPs as scheduled; no nights / weekends in typical school calendar

What You Will Be Doing

Evaluate gross motor, posture, balance, mobility, and access needs; write individualized treatment plans aligned to IEP goals

Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group therapy using evidence‑based pediatric and neurodevelopmental approaches

Integrate therapy in classrooms, gym, sensory spaces, and therapeutic pool to generalize skills across environments

Select & train on adaptive equipment and assistive technology to increase independence and participation

Collaborate daily with teachers, parents / guardians, OT / SLP, Orientation & Mobility, nursing, and counseling on student plans

Document progress, author reports, and participate in IEP meetings and transition planning

Skills You Need

Active New Jersey Physical Therapist license (or eligibility in process)

Pediatric experience preferred (students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities); new grads welcome with mentorship

Familiarity with sensory‑motor interventions, positioning, transfers, and orthopedic / AT considerations

Strong communication, collaboration, and EMR documentation skills
