Job Summary
The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Assisting preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Various Issuers preferred
Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Various Issuers preferred
Experience
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Managing one's own time and the time of others.
Participates in prescription management tasks, including pending new prescriptions and renewals requiring LIP approval, prior authorizations, and medication reconciliation.
Following approved clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) and workflows, appropriate orders are sent for radiology, laboratory testing, and other care needs requiring LIP authorization.
Performs a variety of tasks, including those that may be facilitated by administrative staff, that affect the overall operations of the unit. These include flow, room stocking, scheduling tasks, and all other duties as assigned.
Schedule and register patients for appointments / procedures, confirm appointments / procedures and prepare for patient visits by providing patients with all necessary information and completing all necessary tasks.
Receive patients at arrival, verify and obtain all necessary information, and ensure forms are completed.
Ensure all billing / fiscal information is completed and submitted after the visit, including collecting and daily reconciling any co-payments.
Assist with special projects as directed.
Assist with training and orienting staff as needed.
Follow HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality.
Answer and transfer telephone calls.
Appropriately utilizes organizational resources including management of time, supplies, equipment and other assets.
Other duties as assigned.
