Supervisor, Accounting and Reporting
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Supervisor, Accounting and Reporting is a key leadership role within the Finance Department, responsible for overseeing the full-cycle accounts payable function, managing assigned financial reporting and accounting activities, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining fiscal integrity for the Province and supporting the financial operations of sponsored works (subsidiary ministries / entities).
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role supervises the Accounts Payable Processor in support of a complete, systemic, and computerized record of all accounts payable, accounting operations and strategic financial oversight. The Supervisor will mentor staff, support the annual budget and audit processes, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reporting that supports decision-making.
The Supervisor Accounting and Reporting must possess strong analytical and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

4. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to direct reports; foster a collaborative and professional team culture. 5. Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Controller to support overall department goals and objectives.
6. Support Accounting Manager and Controller with special projects, financial analysis and process improvements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred. Five or more years of relevant experience in financial accounting and reporting with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally in accounts payable or general accounting. Experience working in a not-for-profit is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
The position requires extensive knowledge of financial accounting and reporting and a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (nonprofit). All candidates must be PC proficient with strong experience in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication; able to present financial data clearly and confidently; high level of integrity, discretion and commitment to accuracy; ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively; and provide customer service are all necessary for this position. Experience with Blackbaud's Financial Edge general ledger is preferred.
