CVICU / CTICU RN – Level I Trauma Center

Shift : 12H Nights (7p–7a)

Weekends : 4 per 4 weeks

Holidays : Based on unit coverage

Scrubs : Navy

EMR : Cerner

Unit Overview

Unit : CTICU / CVICU | Beds : 24

Ratios : 1 : 1–2 (mostly 1 : 1)

Support : 2 PCTs (days / nights with high census)

Charge Nurse : Yes (no assignment)

Intensivist : On days / on-call at night

IV Team : No – strong IV skills needed

RT & Pharmacy : 24 / 7

Required Experience

Level I Trauma experience – REQUIRED

ICU background required; CVICU preferred

Must pass dysrhythmia exam before acceptance (2 attempts)

Must be competent with sterile technique

Orientation

Day 1 Pass / Fail exam

SIMs Lab (Pass / Fail) : Foley insertion & central line dressing change

Breaking sterile field = termination

Floor Orientation : 2 days

Patient Types

Post-cardiac surgery, ECMO, CRRT, Impella, IABP, CABG

Lung transplant & thoracic cases (lobectomy, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy)

TAVR, bronchs, Swans, epidurals

Float Requirements

Float to all ICUs & Tele (4 : 1 ratio)

Travelers float first

May float to Westgate

Certifications

BLS, ACLS required

CCRN preferred

Additional Requirements

50-mile radius rule (DL as proof)

Natural hair color only; no facial piercings

Men must be clean-shaven for fit test

BSN required

Travel teams must have their own vehicle

Cancellation Policy

Up to 4 shifts canceled per 13-week contract

If shorter contract : 3 cancellations
