What You'll Do :

As Assistant Controller , you will own the financial accounting processes for a high growth, tech enabled service business. Responsibilities span G / L management, Payroll, Month-end Analytics, financial analysis, Accounts Receivable, Accounts payable, Taxes and banking relationships. Reporting to the CFO, you will serve as a key leader to ensure financials are reported accurately, completely, timely and within GAAP reporting / controls. The team is growing and this role actively manages direct reports in Payroll, Accounts Payable, and General accountant(s). In this role you will be the key finance representative with sales, operations, creative and strategy teams to ensure key cross-functional processes are managed effectively and can be accounted for accurately, timely and efficiently without administrative burden.

The ideal candidate will be a fast learner and capable of building on the existing processes to support increased efficiencies, control and accuracy across the business.

Objectives

  • Complete timely, accurate finance reporting across the enterprise.
  • Assess, evaluate, design and improve controls, processes, and systems to enable the company to meet operational, reporting, and financial requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to identify improvement opportunities and design / implement processes, systems and controls to support.

Responsibilities

  • Complete month-end close accurately and timely, including preparing monthly account reconciliations; analyzing balances to ensure accuracy; identifying, resolving and communicating unreconciled items to the CFO.
  • Complete month end variance analysis with isolated differences explained.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in conformity with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Prepare management accounting matrix P&L's by business line / service and business group for management review and decision making
  • Manage billing. Validate monthly billing accuracy and prepare client invoices.
  • Manage accounts receivable and drive compliance to terms including collections as needed..
  • Review fixed asset purchases and prepare documentation for eligible purchases for financing.
  • Oversee payroll management and approval process with outside payroll vendor- work with internal teams to manage timesheet and contactor approvals timely.
  • Prepare and process bonus and commission reporting and submission to payroll.
  • Reconcile benefits, reimbursement, expenses and deductions.
  • Oversee accuracy and reconciliation processes across all accrual accounts balance sheet accounts and prepaid expenses with the accounting staff.
  • Assist with external audit and support CPA / tax reporting / submission processes.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports upon management requests.
  • Proactively identify / resolve operational and financial challenges as they arise
  • Assists with process improvements, and provides recommendations to management.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent.
  • At least 7 years of progressive and relevant accounting experience (including 3+ in a management role managing 4+ people)
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Assistant Controller or equivalent
  • Experience working at high growth businesses of 100+ employees / contractors, high human capital based with $50M+ in revenue
  • Working Knowledge of GAAP
  • Expert in Microsoft Office applications (Excel), Google Sheets, and QB / QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google sheets formulas(Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
  • SQL skills a plus
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing and payroll taxes for out of state employees.
  • Experience both managing and performing AP, AR, ME Close, Taxes - coordination with CPA, regulatory / statutory filings
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to multitask and work under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable and experienced working with deadlines and willing to work extended hours at time to meet obligations.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills leveraging analytics, technology and process support across teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high volume data sets in complex operations, complex reconciliations and leveraging data insights to validate financial performance.
  • Experience with external audits, service providers and consultants (banks, CPA's, lending institutions).
  • Historically responsible for treasury management functions.
  • FP&A Experience ideal, but not required.
  • CPA license ideal, but not required.
  • Location : Los Angeles (Hybrid-in office 3 x per week)

    Compensation :

    TubeScience provides the wage ranges it reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for all remote roles and as otherwise required by applicable law. The expected range of starting pay for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary within the listed range based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, and specific geographic location.
