- Basic Patient Care : This includes tasks like bathing, dressing, and assisting patients with mobility, including helping them use the toilet and transferring them between beds and wheelchairs.
- Monitoring Patient Health : LPNs take vital signs (like blood pressure and temperature), observe patients for any changes in condition, and document these observations.
- Medical Procedures : Under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, they may perform tasks like changing bandages, inserting catheters, and assisting with wound care.
- Communication and Reporting : LPNs communicate with patients about their care, listen to their concerns, and report any changes or concerns to the supervising nurse or doctor.
- Documentation : They maintain accurate patient records, documenting care provided and any relevant observations.
