Job Opportunity : Shop Foreman
Location : Norfolk, VA
Pay : $20 – $30 / hour
Schedule : Full-Time, M–F, 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 30 PM (40 hrs / week)
About the Role
The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality in all tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise in mechanical and industrial systems, and the ability to lead and mentor junior technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain tool and material inventory
- Maintain accurate vehicle fleet inventory; perform vehicle inspections and ensure maintenance is accomplished as required
- Identify, diagnose, and perform repairs as needed on shop equipment
- Train and mentor junior technicians regarding tools and their use
- Manage and maintain work environment safety, perform inspections, and ensure adherence to regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
Strong organizational skillsValid driver license (required)Forklift driver (preferred)Knowledge in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic component systems; practices, materials, and tools used in ship repair and industrial projectsKnowledge of multifaceted mechanic / repair shop operations and safety practicesAbility to understand and administer OSHA, ABS Classification guidelines, USCG, NAVSEA, and SOLAS requirementsAbility to organize and manage multiple prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong performance and team-oriented mindsetAbility to work under deadlines and schedule pressuresCommitment to company values, policies, procedures, and safety programWorking Conditions
Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as office-controlled environmentsVisits to projects aboard ships, rigs (on and offshore), and confined spacesMust wear hearing, eye, and head protection, and proper PPE when requiredMay require standing on various surfaces and at differing angles, bending, crouching, climbing scaffolding, ladders, and navigating internal structural membersHow to Apply
