Must-Have :

• Registered Nurse license in hand
• BLS and ACLS certifications

Description :

The ICU Registered Nurse will care for adult and geriatric patients.

The common diagnoses include acute respiratory failure, septic shock, and cardiogenic shock.

The unit typically handles multi-organ failure and STEMI cases.

Other diagnoses include acute on chronic renal failure, altered mental status, and DKA.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2.

Charting will be conducted using Cerner Millennium.

Scrub color required is navy blue.

There may be floating support to other areas, typically once per week and two times per month.

Special procedures include arterial line insertion, bronchoscopy, intubation, central line insertion, and chest tube insertion.

Common equipment used includes Alaria pumps, Nihon Koden monitoring, lift equipment, Arctic Sun (TTM), and Rotoprone beds.

The nurse will also titrate vasoactive drips such as norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, phenylephrine, and dobutamine.
