Role overview

Our Frontend Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer - UI Developer to join our growing team in the Bay Area. The candidate will develop software for Alkira’s CSX (Cloud Services Exchange). The work will involve design, development and debugging of the web and mobile user interface responsible for the networking functions that drive Alkira’s CSX.

Location and sponsorship

We’re looking for a candidate who is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area and already authorized to work in the U.S. Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role at this time, as well as relocation bonus. This position is a hybrid role and requires onsite collaboration with the team at the San Jose, CA office.

Responsibilities

  • Build innovative and high performing web experience using React, Redux and Hooks.
  • Develop innovative software solutions for our enterprise-focused cloud application.
  • Design, develop, and deliver highly scalable and reliable web applications and component libraries.
  • Build in flexibility and customization from the start. Be agile and react quickly to dynamic product requirements.
  • Internalize the user and promote good usability and accessibility in every user experience.
  • Understand relational databases like Postgres. Familiarity with REST APIs and experience with Git, CI / CD tools.
  • Add and improve test coverage in end-to-end automation, integration, and unit test suites.
  • Manage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Requires B.S. / M.S. or equivalent in EE or CS. Excellent JavaScript programming and debugging skills.
  • Strong fundamentals in computer science (algorithms, data structures, operating systems).
  • 1-2+ years of professional React / Redux or modern framework experience.
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript. Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, closures, types, and ES6.
  • Experience with CSS and Less / Sass in large-scale applications.
  • Nice to have experience in Node.js API development.
  • Experience with UI testing frameworks like Jest / Mocha or Cypress is a must.
  • Familiarity with web build tools and CI / CD pipelines.
  • Team-player : ability to work in teams of various sizes, including distributed teams.
