DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
- Leads consumer merchandise development projects including concept design, prototypes, pre-production sample reviews, and packaging, with strategic business partners for key initiatives and product launches.
- Oversees appropriate IP / asset usage guidance and merchandise quality across assigned categories, partners, and projects.
- Proven ability to create and implement visual design edits by leveraging sanctioned art assets to influence merchandise development.
- Collaborates and drives alignment with Nintendo Co., Ltd. for IP usage and product quality as part of global merchandise development program.
- Establishes and maintains processes for reviewing merchandise line plans against Nintendo's strategic and retail objectives.
- Builds and leads strong creative merchandise relationship with external partners at working group and senior leadership levels.
- Provides on-going oversight of creative relationship with partners, including concept design, prototype development and manufacturing, escalation and resolution of issues and concerns, and matters of appropriate IP usage.
- Provides new partner brand and IP onboarding, as well as ongoing education to Nintendo's merchandise business partners pertaining to Nintendo's franchises and characters to guide merchandise development.
- Researches and analyzes industry trends and manufacturing techniques for development categories of focus.
- Provides project status, direction, recommendations, and comments to internal teams and external business partners.
- Advocates on behalf of merchandise product development to assure proper representation and perspective is provided in process and policy change.
- Drives continuous improvement activities, optimize systems & processes. Contributes to recommendations and implementation.
- Keeps complete and thorough records of communications related to active, inactive, and completed projects.
- Acts as a resource for more junior team members. Some roles may lead, develop, and mentor a team to support employee development and growth opportunities.
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS :
5-7 years of related experience required.Keeps complete and thorough records of communications related to active, inactive, and completed projects.Ability to mentor and develop team members.Thorough knowledge of Nintendo franchise characters and IP.Astute attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills in service of your creative projects.A creative design eye that understands design trends and best practices.Ability to execute against product development workback schedules.Proven ability to achieve results in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities.Video Game Industry experience a plus.Familiarity with Japanese culture, customs, and business protocol ideal.Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Bachelor's degree of fine arts or fashion design preferred.Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered. This position is hybrid in Redmond, WA. Hybrid positions require regular onsite work following the schedule and guidelines for their division. This position is not open to fully remote status at this time.
This position includes a base salary range of $105,300 - $168,500 annually, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
