About the Role
The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Stagehand (Part-Time) to support theatrical rehearsals, concerts, and live events within the City Springs campus and the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
This position plays a vital role in making performances come to life — from setting the stage and hanging lights to ensuring flawless sound and safety during live productions. What You’ll Do
Set up, operate, and strike stage equipment for a variety of performances and events
Assist with lighting, sound, rigging, video, and stage carpentry tasks
Support visiting artists and touring productions with load-ins, setups, and tear-downs
Maintain and troubleshoot theatrical systems and equipment
Ensure a safe, clean, and organized stage environment for all events
Read and interpret stage plots, lighting plans, and technical riders
Occasionally act as Stage Manager or Event Lead for smaller productions
Collaborate with internal staff and external professionals to deliver high-quality performances
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in live audio, event production, or related technical field
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays)
Must pass background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in theatre, audio production, or related discipline
Supervisory experience a plus
Knowledge or strong interest in the performing arts and live entertainment
Key Skills
Strong technical understanding of stage lighting, rigging, and audio systems
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Problem-solving ability and attention to safety
Customer service mindset when working with artists, staff, and guests
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods
Comfortable working in varied environments, including outdoor or cold conditions
