KAMA DC is a volunteer-run non-profit which creates a platform for immigrants in the greater Washington DC area to share their skills and stories. We host immigrant-run classes, storytelling nights, discussions, film screenings, and more.
We are looking for volunteers to join our promotion, classes, and storytelling teams. Depending on the team, responsibilities may include designing graphics for social media, finding teachers and storytellers, designing and organizing events, working with partner organizations, etc.
KAMA DC's core group is made up of 15-20 volunteers who meet once a week on Wednesday evenings from 6 : 30-7 : 30pm EST. The group is divided into three teams - classes, storytelling, and promotions. Since the pandemic, we have shifted these weekly meetings online to zoom.
KAMA DC particularly encourages refugees, immigrants, and BIPOC to apply. Volunteers must be based in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area and be at least 18 years old.
