Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Import / Export Clerk to assist our licensed Customs Broker in the preparation, coordination, and processing of international shipments. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade regulations, support documentation accuracy, and provide exceptional service to clients and government agencies

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare, review, and process import / export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other compliance documents.
  • Assist the Customs Broker with filing customs entries through ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) and other government systems.
  • Verify shipment details against supporting documents to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouses, and government agencies to track shipments and resolve delays or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all import / export transactions for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor changes to U.S. Customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements, and support the broker in ensuring company compliance.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries regarding shipment status, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and internal compliance reviews as directed by the Customs Broker.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in import / export operations, freight forwarding, or logistics highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and Incoterms preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ACE or logistics software a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Full-time, office-based position with occasional remote communication required.
  • May require extended hours during peak shipping periods.
  • Regular interaction with carriers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
