The Associate Director of Compliance & Title IX Coordinator serves as the principal institution official responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing compliance with the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX). Performs essential functions personally, through others, or in conjunction with designated personnel or outside vendors / experts.

In addition, this position will assist the Compliance department in other duties, such as, but not limited to the following : providing required compliance trainings, preparing reports, assisting with required filings to regulatory agencies, overseeing University publications (e.g.' Catalog, Student Manual, Campus Safety & Security Handbook, and website) to ensure regulatory compliance.

The Associate Director of Compliance will provide guidance for a wide range of activities related to the compliance requirements of operating an institution of higher education. This position will also serve as the University's Title IX Coordinator

This position will report to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness & Compliance. This position will be based on the campus of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develops, oversees, and maintains processes for receiving all Title IX complaints and reports of sexual harassment, sexual violence, and related allegations of misconduct. Keeps affected parties apprised of the status of complaints. Ensures investigations of reports and complaints of sexual harassment and discrimination are adequate, reliable, timely, confidential, and impartial. Manages cases in compliance with Title IX and Clery requirements and annual reports.
  • Works with investigators on proposed sanctions for sexual harassment and discrimination before they are imposed to ensure they are reasonably calculated to stop the sexual misconduct and prevent its recurrence.
  • Serves as the institutional custodian of all Title IX, harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct (including sexual assault and inappropriate sexual conduct), domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and related retaliation records for internal and external reporting purposes by maintaining documentation and records of complaints, investigations, and reports. Safeguards their confidentiality.
  • Provides educational programs regarding discrimination and sexual harassment prevention; prepares and disseminates educational material, to include brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of Title IX rights and responsibilities.
  • Delivers training to university constituents to promote knowledge of institutional policies and pertinent federal and state standards.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure Title IX policy is communicated to all constituencies. Works to strengthen the culture that supports a safe and respectful learning, working, and living environment on campus.
  • Monitors, audits, and oversees compliance of university policies and procedures to include assigned federal and state compliance obligations are satisfied. Provides documentation of these efforts. Federal and state regulatory compliance areas include but are not limited to : Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA), Campus SaVe Act, the Clery Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
  • Recommends solutions to identified areas of compliance exposure, reviews solution implementation, if applicable.
  • Provides routine compliance reports to senior leadership as directed.

  • Work independently and with minimal supervision to manage multiple tasks and an on-going and complex caseload of Title IX incidents and complaints.
  • Negotiate and resolve sensitive, unprecedented, broad, difficult, and complex problems.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and information regarding federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to unlawful harassment, discrimination, sexual violence, and FERPA
  • Investigate and analyze claims information and to draw conclusions.
  • Maintain Title IX training requirements for self, investigators, and appropriate campus community members.
  • Model high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, and ethical behavior.

  • Working knowledge of applicable laws including, but not limited to Title IX, Title VII, Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities.

  • Education and / or Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. JD or master's from an accredited institution in a related field strongly preferred (e.g., criminal justice, higher education administration).
  • Four years relevant experience. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience as determined by the appropriate executive.
  • Formal Title IX Coordinator or investigator training, preferred.

    Computer / Equipment Skills :

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) or equivalent software necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Environmental Factors / Physical Demands :

    Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alphanumeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. (May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.)
