Director, Publications & Communications Strategy

The Director, Publications & Communications Strategy, is part of the Integrated Global Medical Epilepsy Team, a strategic partner within Worldwide Medical and is responsible for the development and execution of the core scientific platform that outlines key scientific statements in support of unmet need, mechanism of disease, clinical data etc. Provides strategic leadership & execution on the development and execution of a publication plan that drives impactful transfer of scientific knowledge, working cross-functionally and delivering compliant and impactful communications. Responsible to ensure that all publications for Epilepsy, including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts are aligned with the core scientific narrative and strategic publication plan. Responsible for ensuring all publications follow industry standard publication policies as well as Biogen SOPs.

What You'll Do

  • Leads the development of the core scientific platform for epilepsy, in consultation with the Global Medical TA Lead.
  • Leads the development and timely execution of strategic publication plan that reflects the integrated evidence generation planning, critical data readouts, interim / ad hoc analysis, etc.
  • Responsible for publication and medical communication vendor management to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all publications shared externally are aligned to the global publication plan and were generated following Biogen SOPs and industry standard publication practices; follows publication process excellence & innovation practices.
  • Supports external landscape / literature review and awareness for the medical team.
  • Demonstrates therapeutic area and product knowledge along with serving as expert on the development process of publications and medical communication materials.

Required skills

  • MD, PhD, PharmD or comparable advanced degree is required.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including at least 3 years of strategic publication planning experience. Substitution of agency experience may be considered.
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to work towards tight deadlines. Must be solutions oriented and comfortable operating in a matrix environment.
  • Additional Information

    The base compensation range for this role is : $197,000.00-$271,000.00. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
