Full-Time Charge Role | Night Shift, Rotating Weekends (Every Other) | $30.75-$46.15 / Hour + Differentials | Sign-On & Relocation Case-by-Case

Overview

Lead night shift labor and delivery operations at a 150+ bed regional medical center in Dickson, Tennessee, offering comprehensive women's services with Accredited Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center designation. This Labor & Delivery Clinical Nurse Coordinator serves as both Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager during overnight hours, providing clinical leadership and operational oversight for the birthing unit. The facility offers comprehensive services including cardiology, diagnostic imaging, emergency care, inpatient rehabilitation, oncology, orthopedics, and women's services with satellite campus support. This role requires capability to deliver babies and scrub in OR as needed, serving as the go-to person for all staffing and clinical needs during night shift. Responsibilities

  • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered labor and delivery care and coordinate all unit functions during night shift operations.
  • Direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures while serving as clinical resource for staff.
  • Assist with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and seamless care transitions for laboring patients.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of quality patient care services in collaboration with management team members.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and subject matter experts to create teamwork environment supporting improved outcomes.
  • Support patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when necessary to enhance patient experience.
  • Operationalize nursing strategies including employee rounding, hourly patient rounds, and engagement initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations for interviewing, selecting, and training new staff while implementing courses of action for performance improvement.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and manage labor resources in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
  • Support proper inventory control and assist with managing supplies and equipment for labor and delivery operations.
  • Serve as primary overnight leader and go-to person for all staffing needs, clinical escalations, and emergent situations.
  • Deliver babies independently as needed and scrub in OR for cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies with clinical expertise and leadership during night shift operations.
  • Recommend and implement training, development, conflict resolution, and personnel actions to ensure organizational excellence.

Qualifications

Required :

  • Current Tennessee RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience
  • Previous leadership experience in Women's Services, Labor & Delivery, NICU, or Mother-Baby units (any length accepted)
  • BLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required within 1 year of hire
  • Capability to deliver babies independently and scrub in OR as needed
  • Strong clinical expertise in obstetric nursing and high-risk deliveries
  • Ability to work night shift with rotating weekends (every other weekend)
  • Comfortable serving as primary overnight leader for all staffing and clinical needs
  • Preferred :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Previous charge nurse or leadership experience in labor and delivery
  • Experience with cesarean sections and obstetric emergencies

  • Hourly Pay : $30.75-$46.15 based on years of experience
  • Shift Differentials : Night $3.50 / hour | Weekend $6.00 / hour
