Overview
This is an in-person faculty position. Classroom or online instruction for courses in the following areas :
- Database Design, SQL Server, MySQL, and Transact-SQL
- PHP
- Java Programming
- .NET Programming (VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET Core)
- Python Programming
- Data Visualization with Tableau or Power BI
- Incorporate introductory artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, such as machine learning basics or data-driven decision-making, into relevant courses to enhance curriculum relevance, while addressing ethical considerations like bias, privacy, and societal impact.
Duties
Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement, effectively planning and preparing for classes, and promoting student success.Prepare course materials and lessons, leveraging tools such as Visual Studio, VS Code, Eclipse, Git, and GitHub. Preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching the course.Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabi.Design interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate learning outcomes in real-life settings, such as web application development, database querying, or data visualization projects.Engage, challenge, and communicate with students to encourage participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments, and final exam assessments in a timely manner.Maintain an electronic record in LMS of each student's progress, ensuring availability upon request by students or appropriate College personnel.Facilitate meaningful learning of course competencies and proactively support all facets of the learning environment through differentiated instruction and effective classroom management.Promote student success by showing flexibility in teaching style and work schedule, exhibiting a passion for teaching, and engaging students in the learning process.Design, administer, and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus and approved by the Academic Dean.Complete all end-of-term responsibilities, including submission of final grades, copies of exams, attendance records, and other designated materials to the Academic Office.Consult with the academic area chair or other College personnel on questions or issues involving course curricula, instructional strategies, and College policies and procedures.Respond to requests from students, academic area chairs, department heads, committee chairs, or the Records Office in a timely and thorough manner.Ability to travel to various campus locationsMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a technical or problem-solving related field.At least 2 years of industry or business experience in software development, including hands-on experience with Python, ASP.NET Core, C#, SQL Server, MySQL, or Java.Demonstrated experience in lesson planning, student engagement, and classroom management.Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, Engineering, Math, Philosophy, Music, or any other problem-solving related degree.Experience as a software developer, including designing and maintaining web applications using ASP.NET Core, C#, PHP, Java, SQL Server, and AI Machine Learning or similar technologies.Prior instructional experience in STEM programming or academic settings, including K–12 or higher education environments.Proficiency with development tools and cloud platforms such as Visual Studio, VS Code, Eclipse, Git, GitHub, AWS.Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.Desired Competencies
