Job descriptionPrepare claims to be billed to appropriate insurances. Work denials from insurances. Distribute insurance payments in EMR. Prepare "Recommend Write Off" periodically and submit for review. Prepare "Aging Reports" and work open claims on the report. Troubleshoot problems with insurances, verification of coverage and contact staff in other departments when needed. Process authorizations when needed or contact appropriate staff to process. Apply behavioral health client payments in practice management system. Prepare refunds to clients when needed. Other duties as required. Minimum of three (3) years medical office experience or completion of medical billing program with at least one year of medical office experience. Minimum high school graduate. Excellent computer skills - ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Detail-oriented. Ability to function effectively as a team member.

The Billing Specialist is responsible for the full claims billing cycle.
